So I decided to take the advice of Sophia and instead of finishing up my run a 3 miles I decided to finish up with an extra .10 f of a mile ( 3.10 miles). Basically she suggested this so I can get a good read on what my 5k time would be… So yesterday I hit the treadmill hard and ended up running 3.1 miles in 24:30 (which is even better than my 3 mile run time!) so ANOTHER personal record for this week has emerged
… my 5k fastest time is 24:30!
Since I have been doing way to much running I decided to get up on that stair master for 40 mins today followed by a 1.5 mile walk afterward. When training with a Stairmaster, you are more apt to train at a higher intensity for a shorter duration. You can easily burn between 250 and 400 calories in 30 minutes. The upward motion also builds strength in your legs and glutes… which is exactly what I need right now, a nice firm bootay haha… I miss the incline workouts I got in Arizona from the mountain climbs but I guess the stairmaster will have to do for now…
I kinda need that curvalious bootay back…
After my workout I headed over to hang with my Pops (papou= grandfather in Greek). It’s been a really tough time for him losing my Grandma a couple weeks ago so I had him do what he does best Cook me some lunch
… My grandfather was a Chef for many years at a restaurant in Evanston so whenever I head to his house I know I’m going to eat well
We headed over to the cemetery for a bit after lunch, boy was that hard. I hadn’t seen him cry much in the past but obviously I knew things were going to be different now that she had passed. We blessed her grave like you are supposed to in Greek tradation.
I really miss my Yiayia, I know she’s in a better place and I can already tell that she has had a positive affect in my life now that she has passed. Both my sister and my cousin got offered new jobs this past week and I truly believe my Yiayia has something to do with it
thanks Yia!
Since her passing away I have been enjoying my days to the fullest because I know it’s what she would have wanted me to do. So much of our life energy is spent on getting approval from others. Most of us are simply approval seeking machines! I’ve realized this after ending many relationships of my own due to the fact that I was seeking constant approval from those people. If we don’t seek approval from people and just act the way we want to act they should approve of who we really are if they love us. So I say, stop seeking the approval and love from others and just live your life. People are going to love you and approve of you if they genuinely want to whether or not you seek their love or approval. So quit seeking and start living
Imagine what your relationships would be like if you didn’t constantly seek love, approval or appreciation from anyone!
If you pause and reflect on this, you will realize that almost everything you do is to seek love and acceptance from others. But the moment you cease to do so, you are free.
You suddenly get a boost of energy and you are no longer held back by the fear of what others think.
At the same time, it’s okay to appreciate others for what they are and what they do. I’m so proud of so many people I know for doing what they love and loving what they do. The key to their success is that they don’t seek approval from anyone, they just live the way they want to live. These people are confident enough to know that they don’t need to seek approval or love from anyone in order to be happy. In order to be happy they live their lives to the beat of their own drum and develop many relationships with people along the way. Relationships, that are filled with love and approval.
For today, just try this. Say or do what you want because you want to do so and not because you want something from someone.
See how much easier your life becomes once you stop being an approval seeking machine!
Well I’m goin to be having dinner tonight with a friend of mine
so I need to wash up and get ready. Hope you are having a wonderful Monday, remember to enjoy each day to the fullest, don’t dwell on the past and instead focus on the present moment
Much LOVE!
-Angie

omgshhh loved this post Angie!! it’s soo so true! we can never satisfy anyone else’s desires–but just do our best and keep it balanced. In the end, I always want to please God and have His approval–and you know what? He already approves
love ya Ange.
I couldn’t agree more that as soon as you just live, and let go of seeking other’s approval – you’re free – and SO much happier! What a great post
So nice that you went with pappou to the cemetery. I bet that was so hard, bud. Love u!
I wish we still had our gym membership! I miss the stairclimber! But we will be getting an elliptical soon, so I can’t wait for that!!
you are so right, focusing on what other people think is NOT the way to live life… that can just lead to disappointment! It’s best to live life the way YOU want to!
so true, angie. it’s amazing what saying NO, and getting over what others think, can really make you feel… better, lighter, happier!
That’s so nice that you get to spend time with your grandpa. I bet he really appreciates it
Fast runner!! I remember when you just started running
I bet your grandmother does have something to do with your sister and cousin getting new jobs…youre next miss angie!
I’m sorry about your grandmother passing away. What I do for an incline workout in there’s a hill about 430 meters long near my house and i’ll sprint up, jog down, repeat several times. Check out my blog, Beautiful Busy Bee. Thanks! I don’t yet have many subscribers, but I’m hoping to change that!
I loved this; I am constantly seeking approval or trying to be better in comparison to someone and I know it just tears me down continually!
