Today I decided to make another “Funfetti in a bowl” breakfast. I’m thinking about changing my Blog’s name to, “Funfetti Girl“… What do you think? LOL
This breakfast was a great start to a relaxing Monday. I decided to wake up a extra early today to avoid the rushing feeling I had on Friday when I overslept and snoozed my alarm before class. Not such a great Friday to say the least. Monday was much better
This Funfetti Bowl contained:
- 1 container of Greek Yogurt
- large handful blueberries
- 1/2 scoop of protein powder
- and a couple sliced peaches
- A couple squirt of food color to give it that COLORFUL kick!
- 300 calories
Decided to go grab some WHOLE FOODS for lunch after my 6.5 mile run… I am so sick of eating tofu and yogurt for protein so I went with a veggie burger (which I think has protein, oh well who knows, it tasted GREAT though!)…
Do you guys know of any good ways to get protein into your diet if your a vegetarian? What’s your favorite post workout snack? I usually just have an apple with yogurt and some sort of extra protein after a long run I need a change!
Does anyone know how many calories your post workout snack should be after a 6.5 mile run/walk? I would think its around 150-250 calories but I’m not sure if that’s right.
I finally decided to stick it out on the tredmill for 6.5 miles today! Never thought I could do that before but I proved myself wrong and now I can’t wait to get back on and do it again! I hope you all stay warm out there and safe… the Snow is a-comin! I think its going to be AWESOME to possibly have classes canceled for Wednesday. I’m already planning my workout based on the weather… I will for sure be shoveling snow the next 4 or 5 days…arms, get ready for hell!
I leave you with this:
Have you guys joined the Ahepa Marrow Registry? Thousands of patients hope for a bone marrow donor who can make their life-saving transplant possible. They depend on people like you. You have the power to save a life. Take the first step today. I have had the pleasure of speaking in front of my sorority sisters about the organization I volunteer for and we are going to hopefully be getting many people tested within the next couple weeks at chapter. You can get tested too it’s easy and the kit can be MAILED to your home! YOU could save a life!

Awesome run!! I havent been running in like a week! ooops. I think you burn about 100 cals per mile, so 200 probably isn’t enough.
Cottage cheese and tempeh are both excellent sources of protein!
I love cottage cheese I should try this in my smoothies Ive heard it works well!
Great job on the run! I have never made it that far before….but I’ll get there! Way to push yourself out of your comfort zone and just go for it!!!! Your breakfast looks awesome, and I love how you thought it wasn’t colorful enough! Haha! That’s something I would do………
I THINK Tofu is a good source of protein… but I could be way wrong. I know it’s actually pretty yummy, though!
I had to walk the last 3 mles but I stuck it out for 6.5 LOL
i tried hopefully I can improve it!
Amazing run!!! With your kind of working out/running, I’d probably say something more than 15o-250 for you darling. Ever tried dried roasted edamame?
Your right I looked it up online 150-250 is perfect!
Great job Angie!!!
Thanks
Veggie burgers are a great source of protein! Awesome run girl, seriously 6.5 miles is great!!!
I always like to have a protein/fruit smoothie after a workout, or even a larabar/protein bar. An apple with pb is a great choice too!
I’m hoping for a snow day on Wednesday too! *fingers crossed*
P.S. Thanks for mentioning my giveaway in your last post <–I was just catching up on everything!
Oh man I loved the veggie burger I had!
SO delicious!
Great job on 6.5 miles!!! I love WF orzo! So good!!
I have thought about adding food coloring to all my foods! Like my oatmeal! I mean how legit would that be?? Or if you baked it in rainbow? OMGGGEE. Yes, I have thought about this previously
I personally cant eat anything after that long of a run. I did 12 miles today and all i wanted afterwards was water! I didnt know there was a specific number we should aim for after a workout??
My favorite ways to get protein are egg whites, turkey slices, protein shakes, and peanut butter
Just found your blog
I look forward to reading more!
And I’m not a vegetarian, but I love toast with some kind of nut butter before or after a run.
Such a fun breakfast!!!!!!
Post-workout I usually eat whole grain toast topped with coconut butter and dark chocolate chips or I’ll just top the toast with some peanut butter!
How fun is the funfetti breakfast!!!????
Are you asking about vegan or vegetarian sources of protein. If you are asking vegan, it is much different. Vegetaraian is simple….greek yogurt, eggs, nuts, nut butters, seeds. You reach enough no problem if you are not cutting out eggs. And greek yogurt has a TON of protein.
Vegan same with the nuts, nut butters, edamamne, quinoa, other healthy grains. There are ways of combining foods in vegan-ism or vegetarianism to get enough protein. Also, you DO NOT need as much protein in your diet as the world has previously told us. Just like you should not fear fats
Oh, and I replied about the calories in my spread. There is WAY less of the apricots in there so there is probably anywhere from 40-60 calories per TBS
Thanks for this post I really appreciate it I will try eggs more often to get some protein in!
I always reach for a protein smoothie post workout. The not only do I make sure to get my protein, but I also get a few servings of fruit, and how could that NOT be a good thing right?
I am heading to costco tonight to buy some of the greek yogurt you suggested to me! I cant wait to try it!
I normally have about 200 calories with a mixture of carbs and higher protein. I don’t want my muscles to be sore.
That is a colorful breakfast. If you eat cheese, cheese is a good source of protein, and so are beans. Here’s a link that talks about protein sources for vegetarians: http://goo.gl/qSGnr. Stay safe in all that snow.
I LOVE funfetti! That breakfast looks so fun
Do you eat peanut butter? almonds? Cheese? beans? Lots of ways to get protein in for Vegetarians.
Awesome on the 6.5 miles…I really have to start pushing myself more…
Your lunch from whole foods does look awesome though! I love their hot bar!!
nice run!! i know that if you run for an hour or more you need to divide your body weight by 2 and thats how many carbs you need in your snack after… !
Thanks for the tip!
No joke, I really love the idea of Funfetti Girl- SO cute
As for after a workout- why don’t you try a protein shake with almond milk? That’s my favorite! And they have vegetarian protein powder as well, in case you wanted it without milk products.
is protein powder usually vegetarian? or not?
I’m loving the colors! so awesome and COLORFUL!
I love having a good protein shake after a work out just like Holly, but I have soy milk with strawberries and bananas.. or if I’m feeling a bit of a sweet tooth, I have a chocolate and peanut butter one!
I live in the Naperville area and we are getting some pretty bad wind…heres to snow! stay warm friend!
I think tomorrow I’m going to go with a smoothie for breakfast after my workout… is it ok to have peanutbutter after you workout? I thought you were suposed to avoid fat after a workout but I could be totally off
YUM! It really does look like ice cream!
I know it’s so grea to wake up to a bowl of “ice-cream”
You had me sold at colorful.
Funfetti says it all!
Super blog girl! I can’t wait to go back and read all your posts! I’m going to put ya on my blog roll.
Why thanks! I just love your blog!
Your outfit today was so cute!
Fun breakfast!! I’m semi-vegetarian and I eat lots of chickpeas, protein powder, and egg whites!
chickpeas are great! I love them. I need to start having eggs more. in the mornin’
Great vegetarian protein sources: beans, legumes, nuts, seeds, whole grains. Lots of great ways to get protein! It’s easier than you probably think to get as much as you need.
thanks for the tip!
Your breakfast creation looks so delicious!
Sorry for taking so long to repay your visit. Happy February.
Ooooh so pretty! Love this happy breakfast!
